pH-balanced means a product, usually a lube or intimate wash, is made to match the natural acidity of the area it is used on. The vagina is mildly acidic, at about pH 3.8 to 4.5, so a pH-balanced intimate lube sits in or near that range. Products made for anal use or general skin may differ.
Why it matters when buying
Many brands say “pH-balanced” without stating a number. If it matters to you, look for a brand that publishes the pH value, and avoid harsh soaps inside the body altogether.
What to look for
- A stated pH value, not just the phrase
- Water-based and glycerin-free if you are sensitive
- Fragrance-free for internal use
Where to shop
None of the lubes we stock state a pH value on the pack right now, so there is no grid here. See Lubes and intimate care and check the ingredient list on each product page.
